Read it in LTU World Masterpieces class. Dr. Melinda Weinstein wants to help with it.
What you liked and disliked about the play:
I liked the mysterious island setting and the magic element, as well as the themes of forgiveness, character change, and essence of what is a play. Shakespeare is a bit difficult to understand and perform, but it may be worth it.

Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead

Your own personal experience with the play:
This was used as supplemental material when I had to (with little force) read Hamlet. It's a beautiful thing to look at a story from multiple angles.
What you liked and disliked about the play:
I like how this variation of Hamlet shows a different perspective on the story. In the original, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are easily forgotten. In this version, they become vital to the story. If you think about it, they always were vital to the story - this play just paints the image in a far better light. On the other hand, this also detracts from Hamlet himself. It's a matter of whether one wishes to see the comedy or the tragedy of the original version at play. R & G hits home on the comedy side, as these characters come off as very goofy.

Would be great for 2015 (as the 150th anniversary of the Lincoln Assassination). This is the play that President Lincoln was watching when he was assassinated in 1865. I was thinking we could even entwine a re-enactment of sorts (obviously up to director)

It's awesome. Lots of flexibility and can have a lot of double casting and minimal set. The link has a script sample and opens amazingly.
